High Mass with Bishop Ness  Bishop Ongtioco visited our parish at ten a.m. today to preside over our Fiesta Mass. He was very impressed with our Parish's quick response to our stricken brethren who were affected by the week long monsoon rains. As father of the Diocese, he made his own God the Father's words during the Transfiguration event, "This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased, listen to Him." He assured us that the Father is very pleased with our decision to simplify our Fiesta celebration and to cancel our annual karakol, and instead, replace it with a three hour vigil in front of the Blessed Sacrament, offering prayers for the flood victims at the same time using the savings from fiesta activities to donate to relief efforts. Our beloved bishop also reminded us of the theme of these week's readings on the Bread of Life discourses of Jesus. Christ is the Living bread, Tinapay ng Buhay, bread that is broken and given. At the end of the Mass, Fr. Ronnie thanked the parishioners and lay leaders who prepared the liturgy. Also, while thanking Bishop Ness for coming out of his way to attend, he revealed a private remark of the Bishop in the style of pickup lines, "Ang transfi ay parang fertilizer, sabi ni Bishop. Baket? Kasi daw, tuwing pumupunta siya dito, nakakataba ng puso niya!". And our response to him, according to Fr. Ronnie: "Facebook ka ba? Bakit? kasi lagi ka naming like!" Happy Fiesta to everyone!!! (Jenny L) NOVENA MASSES We had a nine day series of novena masses with celebrants from our Vicariate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help like Fr. Louie, Fr. Arnel, Fr. Nadua, Fr. Ronald M. and Fr. Bong. In addition, 2 former parish priests. Msgr. Allen and Fr. Dennis celebrated mass with us during the Fiesta Sunday itself. | Transfi, Hinarap ang Hamon ng Habagat Ang tema ng ating fiesta ay: "Buhay na Pananampalataya, ang hamon mo sa amin". Tunay ngang nakita ang pagtugon ng mga Transfi sa hamon ng habagat na nanalanta sa ating mga kapatid itong nakaraang linggo. Sa 46 parokya sa Diyosesis ng Cubao, 10 dito ang na-aapektuhang ng matinding pagtaas ng tubig sa kanilang lugar. Mabilis naman na nag-buo ng disaster team ang ating mahal na kura paroko, Fr. Ronnie Santos. Si Fr. Ronnie ay ang Economous ng Diyosesis, ang treasurer at ingat yaman ng pondo. Sa pagkakataon nito ng matinding pangangailangan, mabilis syang nakapagdesisyon, kasama ng mga kapatid na pari sa Diyosesis, na gawing prioridad ang pagtulong sa mga nasalanta. Sa kasagsagan ng baha, lumibot na kaagad si Fr. Ronnie at ilang mga kasama sa mga nalubugang lugar katulad ng Roxas District, Araneta Ave. at ang dati niyang parokyang San Antonio de Padua, isa sa mga malubhang na-apektuhan. Sina Sr. Jophen at Rolly Retirado ay panandaliang tumigil sa kabuhayang catering at nagtuon ng pansin sa halos araw araw na pagluluto ng masasarap at mainit na sopas at lugaw para sa ating mga kapatid. Hindi rin nagkulang ang Transfi sa pagtulong sa mga binaha sa atin mismong parokya, katulad ng mga nakatira malapit sa creek ng Area 7 at sa Rochester St ng Area 4. Transfi Fiesta 2013
Novena Masses "Ang Pagbabagong anyo ni Hesus ay Pista ng mata at tenga. Pista ng mata - si Hesus ay nagliwanag, nagnngnging at walang kasing puti, ang ganda sa panngin. Fr Steven celebrated with us as he led -the fifth day of novena, the liturgical feast of the Transfiguration. Creating a joyful atmosphere during his homily adding to that joyous feast is the charismatic choir leading the songs with their electric drums, electric guitar and keyboard. Fr Jojo Simon parish priest of our neighboring OLPH parish and Msgr. Antonio Mortillero also celebrated the novena mass with us. We were all happy to see Fr Jun on the first day of novena. One of our former parish priests, he is the Diocesan Coordinator for the Biblical Aposolate - he called the Transfi as Home of the champions, being the champion for the recent National Family Bible Encounter. Fr Dennis celebrated Mass with us as we marked our 20th anniversary of the Dedication of the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord.
